23 weeks

This week the fruit symbolizes weight, not length. The baby is the weight of a large mango. More than 1 lb, and more than 11 inches.

The baby's sense of hearing is well developed. It's been found that the fetal heart rate slows when the mother is speaking, which suggests that the baby hears, recognizes and is calmed by my voice. That's kind of nice ;)

As far as my symptoms, the book is crazy right on, again. It's says I will have swelling and fluid retention, and my hands may feel numb and tingly, or my wrists my feel achy. Just yesterday, I had an achy wrist, swollen ankle, and swollen fingers. My wedding rings are not going to fit much longer. Here's me at 23 weeks:

We went to Indiana for the 4th of July weekend for our annual get together with my mom's family. My grandpa turns 80 this month, so we had a party for him, and we had a family photo taken for him.

When we got home, our neighbors across the street put on a little fireworks show in the street, we couldn't believe how many neighbors showed up!

You look great Emily! Kirsten and I continue to be so happy for you. Now that the baby's hearing is developed you might want to think about purchasing some Mozart (Baby Einstein's Mozart cd is fantastic).

Thank you for the update and letting us see your belly!!

You look great!!!

As for the wedding rings - just make sure to take them off before it's too late - I had to have mine cut off when I was pregnant for Allan - I was so bummed. I made sure to take them off in time for the next 3!!
