Class of 1996

I was so scared all day yesterday before my 10 year class reunion...I had been looking forward to a reunion since I graduated, but now that it was here, I didn't really want to go. I mean, I haven't talked to these people in 10 years, what did I have to say? Not to mention, I hate small talk....I'm not good at it. If I don't really care about what's been going on with you, then I can't fake that I do. So, I was scared. The only good thing was that Kathleen and Ed were going with us. (Kathleen and I have gone to school together since 7th grade). I don't think I would have gone alone.

The first person we saw when we got there was Lynn. I was so glad to see her! She was on the top of my list of people I wanted to see! Lynn and I were the best of friends in elementary school. We kind of lost touch in jr. High and High School, but we had so much fun together in elementary school. No small talk here, conversation flowed so naturally! She looks fabulous, and is just as sweet, happy and outgoing as I remember her. I hope we can keep in touch!

I was so suprised to see Ryan here! He graduated a year before us. We lived close to each other and he rode the bus with me. I had such a crush on him! I think he did too! He asked me if John was the guy I was dating in high school! Ha! Yeah, right. Anyway, the reason he was at my renunion? See the girl between him and I? That's Denise, she DID graduate with me and they are married! Too funny. I was so glad to see both of them! Again, no conversation problems here!

And, I always have to throw in a photo of me and John, right? He was the designated photographer, and this is the only photo he ended up in.

We didn't take too many photos, it got dark after dinner and hard to take pictures. One bad thing was, Kathleen and I look exactly the same as we did 10 years ago. So, EVERYONE knew us. Unfortunately, they all did NOT look the exact same. I thought I would recognize people better than I did! A lot of the people I wanted to see, weren't there. That was disappointing. Well, maybe I will see them in 10 more years!

Cruisin' on Woodward

Saturday, we went out to the Woodward Dream Cruise...we live about 3/4 mile from Woodward, so we just walk. Ferndale shuts down 9 mile and parties all weekend, and that is always fun! We aren't really into cars....so when we go during the day, it's not too exciting...we aren't into just watching the cruisers. But we go back out about 9:00 and there is live music and dancing, and just a really fun atmosphere! Here are some photos:

These are just a couple of the classic cars crusing down Woodward.

Ferndale put up a "crow's nest," that used to be there years and years ago, with a police officer telling cars to stop and go!

Here are some people watching the cruisers from the median on Woodward.

There was a band playing on top of one of the restaurants on Woodward.

This was a Beatles tribute band that was playing at night, they were great!

And, we got to meet the mayor of Ferndale! He's a cool guy, we really like him!

Anniversary plans

We've done absolutely nothing today, except make our reservation for our 2 year anniversary...which makes it seem like a very productive day, since I've been trying to get John to do this for weeks now. We are going to Mackinac Island (for those of you unfamiliar with Michigan, it's the island in between the Upper and Lower Peninsulas) for 2 nights and we are staying at the Harbour View Inn. My boss goes to Mackinac every year and this is her favorite place to stay, so it should be nice!

Now I'm off to take another dose of Robitussin.

Tommorow's Gonna Be Another Day...

quoting a really early Monkee song there....

Ok, so this has been one of the worst days I've had in a long time. Super busy at work...I have a headache still that I came home with, I have developed a cold sore this afternoon, I didn't make the finals for a design team I was really excited about, the Tigers lost (we are now 0-4), we may not be able to go to any more games this season because we are bad luck, and I think I'm getting a cold. And it's 1:00 am and I'm not in bed.

So, on that note, I'm going to bed. Tomorrow can only get better, right?

Bling and Stickers!

More How Much is Too Much challenges! We aren't really making a dent in our stash yet, but we're trying! The 2nd challenge was to use 10 different types of "bling!" How fun! I didn't even know we HAD 10 types. Ok, I should have known better. This layout was a lot of fun to do.

The next challenge was to use 50 stickers! I used 64....seems like I cheated, but I really didn't...it was just easier this way....Anyway, I'm really happy with how this came out, which is good, it is a design team assignment for The Zone.

We are going to another Tiger game tomorrow!! Can't wait! They completely rocked the game tonight...hopefully John and I can break our losing streak....we are 0-3 for the games we have attended. When the team hasn't lost hardly at all this season, how have we mananged to ONLY see them lose???

How Much Is Too Much??

This post is completely scrapbooking related, for those of you that don't care!

Ok, so my mom and I have TOO much scrapbooking stuff...yet we keep buying it! So, I found a challenge on 2peas called "How Much is Too Much?" It's to help us use all the stuff we have! So, my mom and I are trying them, and we are going to make these pages without buying anything for them! Our first challenge was to use: 5 different papers, 5 rubons, 5 embellishments, 5 epoxy stickers and 5 stamps. It was a lot of fun, and I'm really happy with my layout! Anyone want to join us?

Welcome home Katie!!

That is a classic Katie expression, she has great reactions when she opens gifts! My cousin Katie spent the year in Italy and came home today! We met for dinner after her parents picked her up at the airport. She wanted a burger and fries...all american food! It was great to see her again, it will be nice to have her back as a regular part of our life again!

And Carrie has a Ten on Tuesday blog challenge for us at the Zone this week:

10 Weird things about me!
1. I hate bananas. A lot. The smell, taste, texture. Everything. Gross.
2. I love the smell of chlorine. I'm a swimmer, and for a long time I didn't even realize chlorine had such a strong smell because I was so used to it. Now when I go into a pool it just smells great! Nostaglia, I guess!
3. I've always had this desire to be mayor of Detroit. Yes, I know no one would vote for me, but I have great ideas for the city. Really.
4. I squirt my ketchup and mustard into the sink or garbage before I squirt it onto my plate...I hate that watery gunk that comes out first. Ick.
5. I LOVE the Monkees. I have since I was 7.
6. I sleep with my socks on. In the summer, when I don't wear socks during the day, I will put them on to sleep. I also can only sleep covered.
7. I LOVE Days of Our Lives.
8. I'm 27 years old and have only really been good at sharing for the past 5 years or so. My husband taught me how.
9. I drive a pick up truck. I don't think it's weird, but everyone else does!
10. I can sleep any time, any place, any where, in any condition. Posted by Picasa
