Happy New Year! (again!)

We did our 5K New Year's Resolution Run today, that was originally scheduled for Jan 1st, but got cancelled due to 14 inches of snow. Instead, they rescheduled it for the coldest day of the year yet. Today. We decided to do the run about 2 minutes before we left! We are glad we went, but my lungs still don't feel quite right. It was COLD! This is us before the race...

We did warm up though, I ended up taking my scarf and gloves off.

This is us after the race.

It was a little embarrassing, it was a loop that you ran twice...as we were getting to the half way point, also the start and also the finish, a guy ZOOMED past us to FINISH the race. Yes, his time was less than half of ours. He ran 3.1 miles in 15 minutes. We decided that only the hard core runners came out today...and all the not so hard core stayed home...because we finished pretty close to last, and we aren't THAT slow!! My time was 32:30 and I finished 29th of 33 women. I was kind of embarrased. With my swimming background, I'm just not used to not doing well at something like this. The girl that finished first was 16 and she ran it in 20 minutes.

I'm pretty happy though, I was hoping to be as close to 30 minutes as possible, and we were only up to running 2.6 miles, so this was longer than we have run yet, and MUCH colder than we have run in.

Next race: Superbowl Sunday 5K in Novi.

You can just call me Aunt Emily.

He's HOME!!!

It's amazing how easy it is to spend a whole weekend just watching a little baby! I'm not too much for kids, but I guess when you are family it's different! This little baby held our attention all weekend! We couldn't leave him alone! I'm sure Bryant and Rachel are going to get sick of us! Marcel is such a happy kid! It's like he knows he's home with the family he belongs with!

We met them at the airport....here's his first look at his new aunts and uncles! Hey, Marcel, we are over here!!

The Murray boys.

Uncle John quickly became a favorite!! Marcel LOVES watching Uncle John's silly faces!

He was not quite as excited with me. Or, I just waited too long to get a picture!!

Once he got home, though, he was very interested in my long hair.

Isn't that the cutest face??

Ok, I'm a little partial to this one ;)
But, this is my FAVORITE!! This picture just makes me want to cry, I love it so much! Aunt Emily, Uncle John and Marcel. We are all SO happy to have him home!! He fits so perfectly into our family!!

An igloo?

New Year's Day we didn't get as much snow as everyone else. But, it was great packing snow, according to John. He wanted to fulfill a childhood dream of building an igloo. This is how I left him:

A few hours later he called and told me to come check out the igloo progress. Bryant, Katie and Greg came over to help.

Greg was packing from the inside.

They had to close him in.

But after a while, they started a door for him. Igloos need doors anyway.

This is what it looked like 2 days ago, as 60 degree weather started arriving...

Happy 2008!

New Year's Resolution Run is CANCELLED
Due to the extreme weather conditions, the New Year's Resolution Run is CANCELLED, and will be rescheduled.

That is what was posted on the Lake Orion website this morning. We kind of figured, since they were predicting 8 inches of snow.

We did not get 8 inches, we only got about 4, but I have a feeling Lake Orion got their 8 plus more. Not good running conditions!

We had a party at my sister in law's house last night. We spent some time playing around with the kid's snowboarding toy, it was at least good for some photos:

My camera battery died right after midnight, so my photos are limited, this is the last one taken, we were trying to get a good shot of the girls. This isn't it. ;)
