Butterflies? In February?

Unusual photo for the middle of winter in Michigan! Not at the zoo! John and I went to the zoo today, just to see what it's like in the winter. We thought we'd at least get to see the polar bears out and active. We were surprised to see the camels out enjoying themselves. They look like they were smiling, even! And very active!

The polar bears weren't swimming, which was disappointing, and they were just laying around. Just like in July. Bummer.

We were going to skip the kangaroo exhibit, but we saw lots of people over there, so we thought we'd check it out. They were very active! I never expected the kangaroos to be out and about in the snow. A few hopped right across the path in front of us. They got a little pornographic, even.

Crappy day...

with a little glimmer of light in it.

Yesterday sucked. I was fasting, since it was Ash Wednesday, and it made me feel especially crappy. I was dizzy, shaky, and just felt awful. I fast twice a year every year and I have never felt this bad. At the end of the day at work, I decided to eat a granola bar and see if it helped. If I was sick because of fasting, it should have. I wanted to throw up as soon as I ate it. I didn't, but it did not help at all. I came home and ate some dinner (big mistake) and I was sick all night. I mananged to get down to the computer for a few minutes because I was expecting some news, and I got what I was looking for...just not EXACTLY what I was looking for. The Scrapbook Zone was choosing their new design team, and I wasn't chosen. Just what I needed in between trips to the bathroom.

John thinks it's good, he says there is something else out there for me to do. I don't know. I like being part of something, so I enjoy design teams a lot more than getting published, so I'm not going to be submitting like crazy or anything, and I've now been turned down for 3 design teams, so I don't know that I want to try again any time soon.

My friend Benita did get on the team, though, and I'm so happy for her! And the rest of the team, it is a great team to be a part of and Kelley and Kevin and Sue are great to work with!

My glimmer of happiness for yesterday? We are going to spring training!!! In Florida!! In 3 weeks!!!! I'm soooooo excited! And now that I'm feeling better, I can really feel excited about it! We are going to a game against Philadelphia and maybe a game against Cincinnati.

Oh and one more thing. I don't get into stuff like this on my blog much, but it is scary. I don't shop at Walmart, because I don't want China to take over the world. Now Chrysler is for sale, and China is looking to buy it. Not good. Especially not good for our already suffering Michigan economy. So, please, unless you want to start learning Chinese, PLEASE don't buy Chinese cars. They are coming, and they will be cheap. STAY STRONG!

12 pages!

I scrapped at the Zone all weekend did pretty good! I'm a slow scrapper and I mananged to get 12 pages done!

Here they are!
This is my last design team assignment for this year:

This is my art challenge for Febuary for my A Year to Remember class:

I decided to do a month in review type layout for my A Year to Remember class as well...here is January's:

I love this one...I did a collage of all the brooms we saw when we swept the A's:

How could I not scrap my publication?

I did a few of John (pre Emily) for his album. I love these photos of him working at Cedar Point. He was a weight guesser...perfect for him!:

A few from Halloween:

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a really nice Valentine's Day...nothing exciting, just dinner out at Assaggi, a pretty upscale restaurant a few blocks from us in downtown Ferndale. We don't really go out to nice places too much, so it was fun. Delicious food, and yummy homemade sangria!

We don't really do gifts on Valentine's Day, we just like to celebrate it by doing something. I did though, make John chocolate chip cookies. It is Heidi Swapp's recipe, and they were REALLY good! I took a bunch to work and they got rave reviews! That is kind of exciting for me, because nothing I do in the kitchen gets rave reviews.

John got me some cute little shorts with the old English D on them. I can't really wear shorts right now, but maybe I will have to run a little at Bally's so I can wear them. They are super cute!

I'm cropping all weekend at the Zone! I will hopefully post what I get done on Sunday!

Better Watch Yo' Back next time!

That's what I heard about 5 times from some punk kid playing lazer tag tonight. Yes, us and about 12 other adults including John's mom and dad went to play lazer tag. With a few punk kids thrown in. I have played lazer tag one other time in my life...I think it might have been in college with the swim team, but I'm not sure. All I really remember is that I was TERRIBLE! Really, really bad. John was sure I was exaggerating and thought I would do fine. Turns out, he was wrong. I am still terrible. You do NOT want me on your lazer tag team. Under any circumtances.

But, I can do push ups. I'm up to 23.

And I can swim. I'm back to swimming again after recovering from bruising my ulnar nerve.
