10 weeks

Ha!  I'm nearly 11 weeks now, but I was meaning to take a picture for this entry, and that didn't happen til today.

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  10 weeks

Size of baby:
about the size of a kumquat

Total Weight Gain:  8 lbs.  Thank goodness I haven't gained any more!

Maternity Clothes:
I'm about half and half.  Maternity pants are too big, but SO comfortable!

Gender: We aren't finding out.  We think it's a boy. Murrays only have boys!

Movement: Way too early to feel movement.  I didn't feel Jack until 21 or 22 weeks.

Sleep: Sleep is ok.  I have to get up to go to the bathroom at least once a night and once in a while I have a hard time getting back to sleep.

What I miss:
Being able to wear clothes.  I'm in such an inbetween stage right now.

Cravings: Olga's.  I still can't get enough watermelon.

Symptoms: fatigue.  Random pregnancy sickness is nearly gone, thank goodness.

Best Moment this week: Not sure, I don't know if I had a great moment this week.  Oh, yes, I did.  Getting on the scale and seeing the same number as last week!

9 weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  9 weeks!

Size of baby:
about the size of a grape!

Total Weight Gain:  8 lbs.  I can't believe it.   I have got to eat better, or I'm going to be as big as a house!

Maternity Clothes:
Nothing, yet.  But I'm getting close, really, really close.

Cravings: Watermelon.

Symptoms: Random pregnancy sickness, fatigue, round ligament pain, clogged ears, vivid dreams

Best Moment this week: My first prenatal appointment was today!   My midwife suggested an ultrasound to check my dates, and I was shocked, I didn't have an ultrasound til 18 weeks with Jack.  It was awesome!  Our little baby is a BABY!  He/she has a cute little head, with little arms waving all over the place!   And we could see the heartbeat!  A little tiny baby the size of  a grape!  so so cute!  The size of the baby indicates I'm likely 9 weeks and 4 or 5 days, but I'm not sure about that :)  Anyway, until they actually change my due date, I'm sticking with this.   I'm always for moving the due date up.  I'm not going to get to 40 weeks anyway.

8 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 8 Weeks

Size of baby:
about the size of a raspberry!

Total Weight Gain:  I haven't weighed myself.  I'm scared to, I definitely have a baby bump already.

Maternity Clothes:
Nothing, yet.  But I'm getting close.

Gender: We aren't finding out.  We think it's a boy. Murrays only have boys!

Movement: Way too early to feel movement.  I didn't feel Jack until 21 or 22 weeks.

Sleep: I'm sleeping terrible because of Jack, completely unrelated to pregnancy.

What I miss:
Sleep.   And being able to eat like a normal person.  I have been not feeling well in the evenings and I found out it's because I need to eat.   If I eat all night long, I feel fine.  I'm going to gain 100 lbs.

Cravings: Sprite, raw vegetables and chicken salad.  I found the BEST recipe for chicken salad.

Symptoms: Random pregnancy sickness, fatigue, round ligament pain, clogged ears, vivid dreams

Best Moment this week: Finding out that all I have to do is eat and I will feel better.  Oh, and making a really delicious chinese dinner!    We love Chinese food and now we don't have to order it!

Snow!

We've had a lot of snow this winter, but not a lot of snow play.   Jack really doesn't care for the snow.  He likes it, until it gets on his skin, or he falls.  We didn't really go out at all, all winter.  Then it got warm and we were a little worried that Jack would miss out on playing in the snow at all.  Of course, we were wrong.  It snowed, and we thought, well this is the last time, we had better get out there now!   Of course, we were wrong about that, but it got us outside!

Getting a little brave...

and even braver...

Hey, snow is FUN!

A little sledding...

Then, the next weekend, the snow was starting to melt, so we went sledding with Bryant and Marcel.   It was kind of warm, and a great day for sledding!  Jack got to go downhill sledding for the first time!

First, Marcel and Bryant

Then Jack and Daddy had a little accident

On the way back up...

Back down again!

Then we played on the playground a little.

Jack loved it!   He talked a lot about sledding a few days later.  So, now, we are ready for winter to be OVER!

The details

Thanks for all the congratulations.  We are SO excited.  And scared, and overwhelmed.

I'm 7 weeks pregnant, which makes me due October 24.  That is 3 days after Jack's birthday.  My guess is the baby will be born sometime between my birthday (October 13) and Jack's.

I knew I was pregnant very very early.  I started having vivid dreams...after about a week of vivid dreams, I started thinking about how I NEVER dream, or at least remember them, and I had been having these really vivid dreams for about a week.  I thought to myself, that the last time I had vivid dreams like this was....when I was pregnant with Jack.  For all nine months.  I knew then, that I was pregnant, but it was WAY too early to test.  Very few women will get a positive result that early, even if they are pregnant.   John took matters into his own hands and went to get some tests.   I was thinking that if the hormones were strong enough to create symptoms, then they were strong enough to create a positive result.  However, even as I took it, I figured it would be negative, false or not.   I was shocked, at a positive test, even though I was so sure I was pregnant.

Since then, I have been still having the dreams, having round ligament pain every time I sneeze or cough, which is a lot, since I have been very congested as well.  I also have clogged ears, which apparently is a pregnancy symptom.  Talk loud around me.   And morning sickness.  Or I should say, random pregnancy sickness.  It's all day, part of the day, morning, evening, never, it's very very random.  Ginger gum has been a fantastic find though, relieves it almost immediately.  I'm also tired.  all. the. time.  I remember this fatigue very very well.  I have even already had some heartburn.  Tums, welcome back good friend.

I really wanted to enjoy this pregnancy.  I hated being pregnant with Jack.  I loved that I was pregnant, but the pregnancy itself?  Not for me.  This time, it likely could be our last pregnancy, and I wanted to enjoy it....but man, it's HARD.  I think I am just someone that doesn't enjoy pregnancy.   My mother in law thinks I'm nuts.  She loved being pregnant.  (and was, 6 times).  Maybe it will get better in the 2nd trimester.  I will focus on enjoying it more then!

Let's get back to the pregnancy fruit bowl!   It was fun knowing early, at 3 weeks, the baby was the size of a poppy seed.   WOW!   At 5 weeks, it was the size of an apple seed.  At 6 weeks, the size of sweet pea, and at 7 weeks,  it is now the size of a blueberry!!  Baby will go through a big growth spurt this week!  By the end of the week, the baby will have nearly doubled in size!  Leg buds are forming, kind of like short fins. The heart has divided into right and left chambers. The brain, lungs, eyes, nostrils and intestines are developing..    The baby already has a pancreas and appendix.   The development is so amazing to me.

I found this little "pregnancy highlights", and I might do it each week.  We'll see how it goes.

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 7 Weeks

Size of baby:
about the size of a blueberry!

Total Weight Gain:  This one was actually "Total Weight Gain/Loss, but well, I don't lose weight while pregnant. I guess that is good, because it means I'm not constantly throwing up, but I sure didn't plan on gaining FORTY pounds last time.  So far, I think about 3 lbs. Hopefully that was just bloat, but we will see.

Maternity Clothes:
Nothing, thank goodness.  Although, I like maternity clothes and I'm not sure why people hate them.  They are so. darn. comfortable.  It would be more comfortable than wearing my getting tighter every day jeans.  I feel grateful that I am pregnant during the EXACT same time I was last time, so I have some maternity clothes.  I need more though, as I was working full time, wearing scrubs last time, so I didn't need many. Mostly only for weekends.  I need to wear them daily this time.  And, why oh why am I always pregnant during bathing suit season??

Gender: We aren't finding out, so I'm going to not include this question anymore.

Movement: Way too early to feel movement.  I didn't feel Jack until 21 or 22 weeks.

Sleep: Well, I want to sleep about 20 hours a day.  I'm sleeping ok, but I do have get to get up to pee already, and then it's hard for me to get back to sleep.

What I miss:
Feeling good.

Cravings: It could be anything, at anytime.  Wendy's hamburgers, Subway sandwiches, chinese and yes, PICKLES have been on my list lately. McClure's Garlic and Dill pickles are SO good and they are locally made in Detroit.

Symptoms: Random pregnancy sickness, fatigue, round ligament pain, clogged ears, congestion, vivid dreams
Best Moment this week: I have felt really good the past 2 days.  It's amazing.  I've gone all day without needing to chew my gum.  I hope it lasts, but being only 7 weeks, I know it could change any minute.

Goodnight Baby Jesus

Jack was putting his Nativity Little People to sleep one night.  It was so cute.  He lined them all up in his Thomas bed, and kissed them all goodnight.   Then covered them up.

I took some pictures of Jack's favorite thing right now.  Thomas.

Boden's Baptism

The day after Christmas, (yes, I said the day after Christmas) Boden was baptized.  It was funny, there were 2 babies being baptized at that mass, and the other family are customers of mine!  Not only that, but Kelly (my sister in law) and Kendra (my customer) were at the same Moby wrap demo at the store, and now were having their babies baptized on the same day!

Jack and Marcel going up when the priest invited the children to come up close to watch.  Yes, they are only 16 months apart.

Jack didn't want to get too close.

The 2 families.

The Godparents.

My sweet little man at the party afterwards.

Christmas!

We had Christmas Eve at our house this year!  It is SO MUCH WORK to host 15 people for Christmas dinner.  It all works out and is lovely in the end, but boy, it is a lot more relaxing to go to someone else's house!

Jack LOVED the Guatemalan hot chocolate.

The food.

The only decent picture of the boys.

Jack and Uncle Chris were dressed alike.   Jack must have noticed because he pushed all the gifts to Uncle Chris.

Jack opening a really really big truck from Grandma and Grandpa.

Katie and Greg posing with their gifts from us.   Greg was using a wooden racket!   He needed this upgrade!

And Christmas morning at my Uncle Doug and Aunt Karen's house...the gift pile.

Cooking with his new pots and pans!

If you remember, a while back I posted about Jack singing into a candlestick.  Now he has a microphone!
And, one of his favorite gifts, the Thomas umbrella.

Christmas in Indiana

Right before Christmas, we had our annual celebration in Indiana with Pappy (my dad) and my mom's family.  Here are some pictures of Jack and his pappy and his new chair.

Opening gifts with the girls.

He got a doctor's kit, that had a pair of plastic scissors in it, and he insisted on using the scissors to open the rest of the gifts.

With Great Grandpa.

Christmas Cookies

Jack helped make Christmas cookies this year!  He really enjoyed it!

Decorating them was hard, all he wanted to do was eat them!   These are all naturally dyed decorations, we don't do any artificial food dyes here.

We took them to our Christmas celebration in Indiana, and everyone loved them :)
