This wasn't the plan for today, but...
That is my front yard. I guess "yard" would be the wrong word for it. Our plans for today were to buy a few more bushes for our landscaping and then paint my mom's deck. My brother in law called and told us they wanted to rent the sod cutter we had talked about splitting with them today, and asked if we were up for it. We agreed and decided to help each other do it. We thought it would take a couple of hours. We have been rolling up sod all day. ALL DAY. And now that is what my front "yard" looks like.
We're crazy.

I hate Cleveland.
I haven't posted in a while...sorry! I was sick for a long time, I had this terrible cold and my voice still isn't back to normal. I'm feeling fine though, just a little coughing here and there, and this weird deep voice.
The Tigers just won against the Indians, who are in first place right now, and have been kicking our butt. And we hate them. We really hate them because we are also playing them in basketball and they have been kicking our butt there too. But, tonight, the Tigers beat them, so for some reason I feel like we just won the World Series. I'm probably overreacting.
In other news....we have planted some stuff where the awful bushes used to be. I'd take a picture, but then you'd wonder why we have planted two dead burning bushes. My mom gave us 2 really nice alive burning bushes and they have not done well in the transplant. This morning I was sure they were dead. But the lady at Bordine's said they could live, but it's been really hot for spring and just be sure to water them daily (we have) and then she sold us some other stuff we should have used when we planted them. Hopefully they look better soon. We planted a little ornamental tree, that we are kind of excited about, but it looks so small right now...like if we had a breeze, it might fall over...
That's about all that's been happening in our lives right now...hopefully it won't be another 3 weeks before I blog again....

FINALLY!
I have hated the bushes in front of our house since the day we moved in.
Nearly 3 years later....this is what those bushes look like now.

They have never looked better!!
John worked on them all day...towards the end he ran into some trouble with one of the roots, and our neighbor Mark came over to help.

Now, while this is a huge improvement over what it looked like yesterday, we need some major landscaping help! Any suggestions on what to do here?

Living off the Land

We picked a couple of cucumbers today out of our garden! Very exciting stuff at the Murray household! We also picked some green beans! We have a lot of green tomatoes, but nothing red yet....we also have some red peppers that are getting pretty big! Anyone that knows anything about vegetable gardens...our cucumbers are big, but aren't very green in some areas. We ate it and some of it was really not too ripe tasting. How do we know when they are ready? Wait til it's totally green, even if it is large?
