Last Saturday, Sunday and Monday were full of water!! Or as Jack would say, "lauter."
We went to River Days Saturday at the Detroit Riverwalk. It was a lot of fun! We plan to every year! Jack had a blast in the fountains, and if he were a little older he would have loved the rides and crafts, but it was nice just to walk along the river.
This is what he did when the water unexpectedly shot up at him!
No, he did not drink any water, but he tried!
This sequence is pretty funny...a little mean that I just watched and took pictures, though....
Surprise!
Oh, he's mad now.
For some reason, he didn't run away this time, I think he didn't know what to do!
Daddy saved him. Mama is still taking pictures.
The three of us in front of the Detroit River, and Canada.
Jack liked waving to the police boat...
Then Sunday was Father's Day, and we went to John's parents for another BBQ. The kiddie pool was open and this time we brought some trunks for Jack!
This picture cracks me up...huge Marcel and tiny Jack.
Jack did a lot of this.
This is one cute kid.
A couple of cute cousins. Jack just LOVES his cousin Cel.
Happy Father's Day!!
Then, on Monday, some friends, Marisa and Addie (13 months), invited us to the "exclusive" Pleasant Ridge pool. Marisa actually lives in Ferndale, with a portion of her backyard being in Pleasant Ridge...so she gets to go to the Pleasant Ridge pool.
It is REALLY nice!!
Jack really needs to get back into swimming lessons, this is all he would do on his own. When I took him further in, he just held onto me for dear life. I wasn't too happy about that.
The two kids.
This is the best picture I could get of them together. Addie was just so active running around everywhere, and my wild man just hung out at the edge of the pool, splashing.
As I was changing him, he ran off in his diaper, so I had to take a picture.

15 months old.
I realized that I don't post monthly updates on Jack, since I'm not taking monthly pictures, then I thought, well, I should post a 15 month update. Then I realized that this weekend, Jack will be 16 months old. Time is going too fast!
So, here's a 15 month update, on my almost 16 month old baby.
He is 19 lbs, 12 oz. The Dr was super happy with his growth, but he's still tiny. 3rd percentile for weight, 5th percentile for height. He wears 12 months clothes, and his head is the size of a 3 year old's head. Ha!
He talks! At 15 months, he was saying 11 words. Those were: Mama, Dada, Hi, Bye, Cat, ball, hot, baby, baaaa (as in what does a sheep say), Scott and shoe. And he signs milk. So, I guess that's 12.
Now, at almost 16 months, he has added: up, Jack, no, nose, bellybutton, eye, head, dog, key, light, meow, and Nana. Seems like he gets a new word every day! Of course, no one but us can understand him :)
He also can read the words "hi" and "clap." By read, I mean if you show him a flashcard that says "clap," he will clap. Smart boy!
He climbs on anything and everything. He has figured out that if he places the shopping cart near the couch, he can climb get onto the couch by himself.

He can feed himself with a spoon. Kind of.
He likes spaghetti.
And, John and I have gotten to go out twice in like the last 3 weeks, without him!!
We hung out with our friends Kathleen and Ed a few weeks ago during the Ferndale Blues Festival.
And John and I went out for Valentine's Day.
Oh, and we signed a lease! No Pins Required will be coming to 22446 Woodward Ave this spring!

Quick catch up
I should be wrapping gifts or grocery shopping, or something, but I figured I should catch up on my blog before all the Christmas craziness begins. So, here it is.
Thanksgiving: This was our menu. CRAZY!!! Yes, we need all that food.

We have been geocaching again. We started this about 4 years ago, did it for a summer and stopped. We bought a new GPS and did a little bit early December and we had fun! We will do more once the Christmas season is over. This one was in a park right by our house. This is the park we run around.

We also went geocaching at the Zoo, and while we were there, we saw the polar bears being fed. Going to the Zoo in the winter is cold, but it is the BEST time to see the animals. Remember my post last February about the Kangaroos?

Last weekend, Ed and Kathleen had a holiday party, with the main event being the counting of the corks! They have been collecting corks (they are avid wine drinkers) and every time you finish a bottle with them, you can put a guess in for a dollar. The object is to guess how many corks the container will hold.
Here's the container:

And here's the couting:

I think it ended up being 1,059 corks. Our closest guess was one of mine at 1,088. Not too bad.
The next day, we had a HUGE snow storm, and our neighbor and his kids invited us to go sledding. I hate sledding, but I went, and it was ok, the hill was pretty small.

Now, this is the exciting part:
We have decided what we are getting for Christmas. Oh, this is SOOOOO cool.

Yes, we are getting a new stove and refrigerator. Our current appliances are about 30 years old. The only concern is the size of the fridge. We just HOPE it fits into our house. It is truly beautiful. And, look at this:

That button on the far left? CRUSHED ICE!! But, really the best part is that it is a filtered dispensor, which means we can get rid of our Brita filtering systems!
I think when you buy appliances for Christmas and are truly exctied about them, means you are officially adults. So, at 29 and 34, it's about time, right?
And, in Marcel news...he is coming home FOR SURE! But, not before Christmas...we are now looking at early January. How exciting that it is so soon!!
Ok, now I really have to get moving, more shopping, gift wrapping, and baking is the plan for the rest of the day.
Merry Christmas everyone!!

Class of 1996

I was so scared all day yesterday before my 10 year class reunion...I had been looking forward to a reunion since I graduated, but now that it was here, I didn't really want to go. I mean, I haven't talked to these people in 10 years, what did I have to say? Not to mention, I hate small talk....I'm not good at it. If I don't really care about what's been going on with you, then I can't fake that I do. So, I was scared. The only good thing was that Kathleen and Ed were going with us. (Kathleen and I have gone to school together since 7th grade). I don't think I would have gone alone.
The first person we saw when we got there was Lynn. I was so glad to see her! She was on the top of my list of people I wanted to see! Lynn and I were the best of friends in elementary school. We kind of lost touch in jr. High and High School, but we had so much fun together in elementary school. No small talk here, conversation flowed so naturally! She looks fabulous, and is just as sweet, happy and outgoing as I remember her. I hope we can keep in touch!

I was so suprised to see Ryan here! He graduated a year before us. We lived close to each other and he rode the bus with me. I had such a crush on him! I think he did too! He asked me if John was the guy I was dating in high school! Ha! Yeah, right. Anyway, the reason he was at my renunion? See the girl between him and I? That's Denise, she DID graduate with me and they are married! Too funny. I was so glad to see both of them! Again, no conversation problems here!

And, I always have to throw in a photo of me and John, right? He was the designated photographer, and this is the only photo he ended up in.

We didn't take too many photos, it got dark after dinner and hard to take pictures. One bad thing was, Kathleen and I look exactly the same as we did 10 years ago. So, EVERYONE knew us. Unfortunately, they all did NOT look the exact same. I thought I would recognize people better than I did! A lot of the people I wanted to see, weren't there. That was disappointing. Well, maybe I will see them in 10 more years!
