Busy Weekend!

We started the weekend out with a Tiger/White Sox game on Friday night. They lost. We are 0-2 so far this year. We haven't won any regular season games that John and I have attended in the whole 2006 season, and now so far in the 2007 season. We hope this trend does not continue! Our first game of our package given to us by my Aunt Karen and Uncle Doug is next Saturday, against the Twins. We need to win that one, they are 1 game up on us in our division.

John got a call from a contact at the Palace, offering us Pistons playoff tickets for Saturday night. Game 1 against the Magic. They wined and dined us to get some advertising out of John. We ate dinner and drank at the Palace Club before the game. We listened to a short pep talk from the President of the Pistons. We had great seats (even saw a few Tigers at the game!) and at half time, they came to get us. He took us to the sponsor lounge with more drinks and snacks and we watched the players go to and from their dressing room. Then, we got to go into the dressing room as they started the 3rd quarter. It was cool! Here are me and John in front of Flip Murray's locker. Notice the Tiger hat!

The Pistons won, which keeps our Playoff record intact. 2 Tiger playoff games, and 1 Pistons playoff game, all winners! We would like that record to continue!

Rally caps AND gum??

Ok, so our rally efforts didn't work. The Tigers lost. We sat out in 98 degree heat, and chewed a whole pack of Big Leauge Chew each to rally the Tigers and they didn't win. Maybe we should stop going to games....every game we've been to this season they've lost. They don't lose too many, so that's kind of crazy! There were other people with us, but, we were the die hards, they couldn't take the heat. We chewed that gum for 4 innings!

At any rate, those photos will be fun to scrap!

In other news, Flip Murray is now a Detroit Piston. I don't really know anything about him, but I'm sure it was a good move...you can't go wrong with a Murray on your team, right? Posted by Picasa

Can this day get any worse??

First, it started with a really terrible day at work, followed by a headache that wouldn't leave.

Then, I found out that Stevie Y, our Red Wing captain for the last 20 years is retiring. Ok, we knew it was going to happen, and we knew it would be soon. But, it still hurts. Things just won't be the same.

Then, I thought to myself, Self, look at it this way, things can't get worse...you have the day off tomorrow! Nothing is better than a day off work. Things are good.

Then can you guess what happened? Ben Wallace, the face of the Detroit Pistons, has accepted the Chicago Bulls offer. He is no longer a Piston. Nobody really thought he would leave. He loves Detroit. Or, I suppose loved Detroit. Then again, maybe he didn't. I mean, we offered him $48 million and they offered him $52 million. When you are talking that many millions, does it really make a difference???? I'm really disappointed, Ben. What an incredible group of 5 guys we had.

Thank goodness for the Tigers. Did I mention the Tigers are the best team in baseball right now? That Pudge Rodriguez is the starting catcher for the All Star game? That Kenny Rogers is pitching in the All Star game? At least the Tigers can't disappoint me!

It's a Sad Day...

...in Detroit.

So, Detroit sports were rocking this year - three of four professional sports teams were NUMBER ONE in their leauges - then the playoffs happened...

First, the best team in the NHL lost in the first round of the playoffs....

Then, the best team in the NBA lost in the Conference finals.....

well.....

At least we have the Tigers!!! They are the best team in baseball right now....we haven't been this good since 1987. It's really pretty exciting! And now that our beloved Red Wings and Pistons are out of work for the year, all of our energy has to be focused on our FAVORITE team in the city, the Tigers. We'll have to go to a game soon....
