Blackout/Lake Michigan!

Yes, I'm 27 weeks pregnant, and I haven't done my weekly post, but tomorrow I'm 28, so I'm just going to wait until then.   Baby is the size of a head of cauliflower, and weighs about 2 lbs!   He/she can open and close his/her eyes now!

So, last week, we had a blackout in Ferndale.   Yes, the hottest week of the year.  Wednesday night, we lost power about 5:30 pm at the store.  We find out soon, that we lost power at home too, and so did most of Ferndale.  DTE estimated that power would be back by the next evening between 9 and 11 pm.  Thursday was supposed to be 100 degrees, with a heat index of 108.  John was out of town, so it was me and Jack fending for ourselves (and the baby) on the hottest day of the year with no air conditioning.   The store was closed, obviously.  Here is how our day went:

We slept downstairs, trying to stay cool. Fortunately, my dad's bed was still down there.  Jack slept in pretty good that morning.

We got up, ate a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast (before throwing out the cream cheese), some canteloupe, and opened up the freezer to get some stuff out.   The mini ice cream cones were soft so we ate some of those before throwing them away.

I filled up the freezer bag to take over to my sister in law's house, where John's parents were staying.

We went over to see Grandma and Grandpa, and played in the air conditioning for a while and then Jack found some bubbles and insisted they go outside to play.  They played for bit outside in the 100 degree heat, before I said it was time to go!

Jack and I headed to Great Lakes Crossing.   We went to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch....Jack was a little scared of all of the animals.

And after shopping a little bit, we went and saw a movie!  Jack's first movie, Winnie the Pooh (or as Jack would say, Winnie A Pooh!)  I was sad to do it without John, but we had to find cool stuff to do today!

Sitting in his seat!

He loved the movie!   He sat and watched the whole time!   He doesn't look happy here, but I just think he didn't want his picture taken.

We drove home, here is the temperature...

And met with Nana for dinner.   Jack was clearly not feeling well, and zonked out right at the table.

We had talked about getting some books, so even though he was sleeping, we went and bought him some books.  When we got home, Nana read Jack a new Winnie the Pooh book by flashlight.

And then we slept in the basement, that wasn't nearly as cool as the night before, again.  Our power came back on early Friday morning at home, but not at the store, so we were closed yet again.  The power finally came back on at the store on Saturday morning.

Then, on Sunday, we drove out to Fennville, Michigan to visit with my Aunts/Uncles/cousins that had rented a cabin.  We had a great day at Lake Michigan!

Getting in the lake..

Jack had fun in the lake, but once he started playing the sand, that was it for him. He did this for HOURS.

We had such a good time, we are trying to plan a weekend in South Haven or Saugatuck soon!

More 4th of July/New Bike!

Ok, I'm finally caught up on pictures now!

Actually ON the 4th of July, we went to Oak Park's parade with Nana, and then we went to John's parent's house for a BBQ and MORE swimming for Jack!

Swimming with Marcel

Boden wanted to join the fun!

Watching fireworks (in the daytime?)

All 3 boys

Jack wanted to eat his hamburger AND watermelon at the same time.

And much more recently, Nana bought Jack a balance bike!!  Jack has always liked getting on Marcel's bike, but it's too big for him, so I went searching out for a bike small enough for Jack!  I found one and he loves it!  It doesn't have pedals, the idea is to learn how to balance first, because pedaling is the easy part!

26 Weeks/4th of July weekend

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  26 Weeks

Size of baby:
Baby is the size of an English hothouse cucumber. Baby is as tall as an English hothouse cucumber and weighs about 1 2/3 pounds. (Length: 14 inches, head to heel.)

Total Weight Gain: About 20 lbs.

Maternity Clothes:
Everything is maternity.

Gender: We don't find out!  We are really thinking this is a boy.

Movement: I'm feeling the baby kick everytime I lay down or sit still for a few minutes.  The movements are finally getting higher, so I think the baby has turned around.

Sleep: I've been sleeping really well!

What I miss:
  Nothing really right now.

Cravings:  Chocolate milk.

Symptoms: As I'm getting closer to the 3rd trimester (next week!!) I'm aching a bit more.   My ankles hurt, and I can't stay in one position for too long.

Here are some photos from our 4th of July weekend at my Uncle Dan's in Indiana!  We had a great weekend!  The weather was beautiful, really hot, so we spent the whole weekend in the pool!!!

Jack LOVED swimming!!

Mama getting comfortable with a few noodles.

This was pretty crazy.  Jack decided on his own that he wanted to go off the diving board.   He jumped off, but wasn't too happy afterwards.

He needed to get out and sit in his chair for a bit.

Later that night, we did fireworks!   Aunt Karen brought a bunch of glow stuff for the kids.

Jack did NOT like the fireworks at all, so he went inside with Nana and watched.

Next day, back in the pool!

Danielle drove Jack around in her car....

The other girls on the swings...

and Jack driving the car!

Jack also wanted to try the slide, so we put him on it, but right after this moment, he decided it was not a good idea, and he got off.
He got a hold of a hose, somehow and spent a while spraying us with freezing cold water!

Back in his chair!
