19 Weeks/Memorial Day

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  19 Weeks (if I have this baby around the same time I had Jack, I'm half way!!)

Size of baby:
The size of a large heirloom tomato in size and weighs 8 1/2 ounces. (length: 6 inches, head to bottom)

Total Weight Gain:  I'm done with this question now.  I'm only drinking water, I'm eating very healthy, yet I continue to gain at an unreasonable pace.

Maternity Clothes:
Everything is maternity.

Gender: We don't find out!

Movement: I'm feeling the baby kick, mostly at night.  Not much during the day.

Sleep: I've been sleeping really well!

What I miss:
eating whatever I feel like, and not thinking about how much protein I'm getting, or thinking about if what I'm eating might be harmful to the baby.

Cravings:  cupcakes, but due to not having any butter, I have been unable to make them.  I may never buy butter, because I do not need to eat cupcakes.

Symptoms: right now, my biggest symptom is this big round belly I have developed.  I have had some heartburn (not regularly though, thank goodness) and some tailbone soreness (again not regularly).  Both symptoms I do not miss from last time.

Best Moment this week:   John was able to feel the baby!!  That is amazing to me, as I couldn't feel Jack til 22 weeks, and then John couldn't feel him for a few weeks after that!!

On to Memorial Day!

We had a great day today!  We went to the Memorial Day Parade in Ferndale in the morning.  It's the longest running Memorial Day parade in the state!  (93 years, I think!)  We always go to Bryant and Rachel's house because it goes right down their street.
The boys were very serious about waving the flags.  I don't believe Jack smiled once during the parade.  He enjoyed it, he waved that flag the whole time, but he was very serious about it.  I guess that is appropriate for Memorial Day.

He was REALLY serious here.

This is what he was looking at.

This is how Marcel spent a lot of the parade...he's not a big fan of noise.

Jack had his flag on the ground, and Rachel said, Jack keep your flag off the ground, keep them in the air.  So, this is how he spent the next few minutes.

Then we walked home (a really long, hot walk home) and tried to fill up our pool for some swimming.  Turns out, we had a leak, that we tried to repair with duct tape, but it didn't fully take care of it, so our swimming time was limited, but Jack had a good time anyway.

Jack had a really good time filling up the pool.  He was also very serious about this job.

Then, we went to Bryant and Rachel's house for a last minute BBQ!

As soon as we got there, Boden saw me and gave me a huge smile, so of course, I picked him up.   He then grabbed my face and tried to eat it, which Kelly said is how he kisses.  hahahaha!  It was very sweet! He is such a happy baby!!

Jack and Marcel played in the sprinklers.

And the boys had watermelon - even Boden!  Marcel would not let me take his picture, so that is why he is not pictured, but he ate more watermelon than everyone else combined, I think!

18 weeks/flying kites for Michael

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along:  18 Weeks

Size of baby:
Baby is the length of a bell pepper. He/she is as big as a bell pepper and weighs almost 7 ounces. (Length: 5 1/2 inches, head to bottom.)

Total Weight Gain:  14 lbs. Ouch.

Maternity Clothes:
Everything is maternity, except for sweats

Gender: We had our chance to find out this week and we didn't take it.   It's official, there are no more chances to find out now!

Movement: I felt tiny kicks Friday morning!  (and a bunch last night!)

Sleep: I've been sleeping really well!

What I miss:
eating whatever I feel like, and not thinking about how much protein I'm getting, or thinking about if what I'm eating might be harmful to the baby.

Cravings:  gummy bears.

Symptoms: right now, my biggest symptom is this big round belly I have developed.  I have had some heartburn (not regularly though, thank goodness) and some tailbone soreness (again not regularly).  Both symptoms I do not miss from last time.

Best Moment this week:   Our ultrasound, seeing our baby, and feeling kicks!!  This was a great week!

Here are some of the ultrasound pictures!!   We kind of expected the baby to look like Jack's ultrasound, but it doesn't!!  I also found out that my placenta is not in the front this time, so I should feel kicks sooner and stronger.  It turns out, I felt kicks that morning, before I realized what they were.  I had never felt these tiny kicks before with Jack because they were so muffled by my placenta.

This is a good shot of his/her arm and hand.

Sweet profile view.  The baby kept opening and closing his/her mouth!  So cute!

This is a closer view of the head, check out the lips on this kid!

Ultrasounds make everything seem so much more REAL!!  I was excited before, but I feel much more of a connection now that I have seen the baby!   He/she was really moving around in there, waving arms, opening and closing his/her mouth...it was fun.

The tech says she knows what we are having, but gave no clues, thank goodness!

Jack finally is getting it, I think.  I pointed to my belly and asked him what it was and he said, "baby!" then he said "baby brother."  then, "baby sister."  awwww...

On a sadder note, John's cousin Michael was killed (accidentally) recently.   We hadn't seen him in about 10 years, but about 10 years ago, he played football with John every week.   Just like we did a few years ago after Shawn's death, we flew kites in Michael's memory today.

You will have to enlarge this one to see it well, but here are our 5 kites in the air at once!

These were the 2 kites we brought.
My sweet boy just being sweet.

On Sunday, we had tickets to Day Out with Thomas.  Easily the worst day possible for the event.  50 degrees (although it felt MUCH colder) and it rained non stop all day long.   Winter coats, umbrellas, hot chocolate.  On May 15.  Welcome to Michigan.   We had fun, kind of.  Jack likely had more fun, but even he was cold and wet.  Especially after he fell into the mud puddle.
Waiting for Thomas to arrive!
There he is!!
Riding Thomas
Clapping for Thomas

Because we don't do enough of this at home...

Riding the carousel...notice the muddy pant legs.

Trying to stay warm in the stroller.

It was a long day.

The 3 of us looking pretty cold.

We will be praying for better weather next year!   Especially since we will have a 7 month old baby with us too!

And Jack and I went to the Zoo yesterday..nothing unusual, we go to the zoo frequently on Mondays. I just don't usually take pictures.   And, the Mondays we have gone so far haven't been too nice.

He insisted on sitting on every rock and bench we came across.

He loved the seals.
