ONE!

My sweet baby boy is ONE year old today!!

Remember this baby?

I can't even remember how easy these pictures were back then.

I thought it couldn't get harder than last month, and yet, it did.  This last 12 month picture was the hardest yet!!  Notice we had to give him keys to get him to NOT grab the blocks!  The picture isn't great, but it was ALL I could get.

So Jack's first birthday wasn't exactly how we planned it.  John has been sick since he got home from his business trip last week, and yesterday he was AWFUL.   He had a fever and was knocked off his feet.  Jack and I stayed away as much as possible, but unfortunately, Jack caught it, and woke up on his birthday all congested!   I really worry that John has swine flu, and Jack is high risk since he's so little.   So far, Jack doesn't have a fever, so hopefully if he's got it, it's mild.  John went to the ER to get tested today and they tested him positive for Influenza A, but we won't know for 2 days if it's H1N1.  If it is, I think we will have to postpone Jack's birthday party.  No one would want to come to a house full of swine flu!   I'm so disappointed, such a happy day ruined by sickness.  I'm not feeling so good myself, either.  Our house is trashed too, since John has been sick, I have been taking care of Jack 100% of the time, and that doesn't allow for much housekeeping.

We did give our boy some presents though!  He was wearing a birthday boy shirt, but Mama got some carrots and elderberry syrup on it!   Whoops!   Mama and Daddy got him a wagon!  He LOVED it!!

Nana brought over some presents too!   Here he is opening a gift for the first time!

He's getting so close to talking....I think he may have said "bye bye" tonight to Nana.  I swear he said "Daddy" yesterday as he opened Daddy's office door.  He is a climber.  He will try to climb anything!!  He could be walking any day now.  He's getting better and better with his push toys.

What a year this has been! We are so blessed to have such a sweet little boy in our lives! I don't think we ever knew how happy we would be! He has taught us so much this year. He taught us how to be parents...we know so much more today, than we did a year ago. His future siblings, if there are going to be any can thank him for that! I feel bad that he had to deal with us in the beginning! Boy, if only I knew the things I know now!

Happy birthday Jack!!

26.2

My sister and brother in law ran in the Detroit Free Press Marathon today!!  What an accomplishment!!

They really inspired us today to start running again.  Last time I decided to run a marathon though, I got pregnant.

On Saturday, we went to the cider mill with Bryant, Rachel and Marcel.   We were SO cold!!  It wasn't that cold when we left, and so we weren't dressed appropriately!!

We took a hayride to the pumpkin patch.

Jack picking his pumpkin.

All of us.

And of course, we had cider and doughnuts!

Jack's first Tiger game!

I never would have thought Jack's first Tiger game would be in October.  I can't believe we are playing in October and they aren't playoff games!

It was a beautiful day, and we had the opportunity to clinch our playoff spot.  But, we didn't.  Of course.  We had a good time anyway.  Kind of.

We LOVE this Tigers Jacket...it was one of the first gifts I got for Jack when I was pregnant.  Thanks Debbie!!

I wore him on my back for a bit.

We rode the ferris wheel.

And the carousel.  John didn't get a single good picture of us on the carousel.  We got in trouble for sitting like this.

Here is the guy telling us we can't do that.

And we left before the game even ended we were doing so bad.  We never leave early!  Hopefully our next game will be Game 4 of the ALDS!
