Big Fat Positive

What a surprise!

(a year ago). Yes, one year ago today we got a positive test. I had been feeling different for a couple of days, and John was running out to get something and I said, hey get a pregnancy test too. He just causually said Ok, we had taken a lot of pregnancy tests over the past year. He came home, and I quickly used it (I really had to go!) and it almost immediately said "pregnant." I called "John...." And he knew immediately. I didn't believe it and took another one right away, and then we got more and I took another one the next day. I was pregnant! And here we are a year later, and our baby is 4 months old! We've come a long way!

We went for a walk today for the first time...it's been so cold. I finally decided he was old enough and the day was reasonably warm (45) so we went all bundled up!

He fell asleep pretty quickly.

And yesterday was Jack's first Ash Wednesday!

4 month stats

We had our 4 month appointment today. Jack is 12 lbs, 10 oz, and 25.5 inches long. Our dr. said that is 25th percentile for weight, and 50th percentile for height. He's catching up!

4 months old!

Time is really flying! Jack turned 4 months old on Saturday. The 4 month pictures weren't so good. I still can't catch smiles on camera very well, but he smiles A LOT! Especially at me. I am his favorite person in the whole world. If he sees me anywhere in the room, he smiles big at me. It's really nice that he recognizes us, and seems to really like us!

He's playing more, really grabbing onto things, but playing mostly consists of sticking things in his mouth. We think he may be teething, but we aren't sure. We have our dr. appt. on Tuesday. Round 3 of vaccinations. I hate them more than Jack does. And, since we are doing an alternative schedule, we get shots EVERY month, instead of every other month.

He's talking a lot, especially Friday, he talked NON stop! He's weighing in at around 12 1/2 lbs. We were hoping for 13 by 4 months... His new favorite thing is to stop nursing and look at me and smile. It's very sweet, but it sure takes a long time to feed him this way! He does it many many times during one feeding!

Happy Baptism/Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day from Jack!

Jack was baptized today, but I don't have the pictures yet. He was so good! He wasn't crazy about the actual baptism, but once the water part was over, and the priest was singing to him, he was all smiles! And no spit up! I was worried that he was going to spit up all over while we were up there!

Yesterday was a big day for Jack too, he spent his first night in his crib! Since he's almost 4 months old, we thought he should be graduating from the bassinet next to our bed. I really missed him though. He seems too little to be sleeping in his own room, alone. But, he handled it well, and slept through the night, like always.

Sick boy.

Our little man has a cold. It makes me mad, because I'm breastfeeding, I didn't think he'd get sick so early. He's congested, coughing and has a bit of a hoarse voice, but no temperature, and he's not fussy. He's his normal happy self, so that's good.

Here's some of my latest pictures of the day...

I got a bunch of new diapers! I never had any idea how exciting new diapers would be!! I got a bunch of different kinds to try out. They are so darn cute!

Jack and I had our first trip to the library. I wanted to pick up a book that Rachel recommended. It's a sleep book, because Jack doesn't nap well. He slept the whole trip to the library to pick up the book. Too funny.

Jack has a cradle cap problem, so I comb some stuff onto his head before his baths to help. I always give him a little mohawk with what little hair he has.

Jack fell asleep in John's arms last night and he just looked so sweet.

Jack noticed his mobile for the first time on his swing today. He loved it!

I got a baby yoga book at the library too, and Jack and I did yoga today. He loved it!

I finished scrapbooking Jack's birth. Here are the pages I did.

First day back!

Photo of the day for today. Yes, I went to work today. For 4 hours. It was wonderful! I loved the break from Jack, I loved seeing my coworkers again, and I really enjoyed seeing a couple of patients. I also loved fitting into my scrubs so well, and not having to squeeze them over a HUGE belly. I also loved leaving at lunchtime. And I loved knowing I don't have to go back on Monday. It's perfect!

Last Sunday, we went to a Superbowl party at John's Aunt and Uncle's house and they have a new grandchild, Ben, who Jack got to meet for the first time.

They were sitting next to each other, but they have no idea the other one is there.

Uncle Pat caught this moment shortly after we arrived. The new daddy's and their boys.

We had our first Dr.'s appointment last night that wasn't a well visit. Jack was super congested and we thought he had a low fever, but turns out he's fine, just really congested from the dry heat. I can't wait for warm weather so our little boy knows how easy breathing really is! He's been congested since he was born!

Who does Jack REALLY look like?

No one can agree who Jack really looks like. So I tried the Look alike Meter...

Nursery pictures!

I really did mean to post these before Jack was born...but we put the finishing touch on the nursery, and then at 5:30 the next morning, I went into labor. So, I kind of forgot. Anyway, here they are! The lighting is terrible, and the pictures are not great.

Right when you walk in...super cute shelves.

This is really hard to see, it says "I see the moon and the moon sees me. God bless the moon and God Bless me."

The cute artwork.

My mom made the cushion for the glider. And I LOVE that hippo light.

These curtains are one of my favorite parts of the room.

Almost everything was from Ikea, except the furniture.
