17 weeks

No fruit again this week. But, we did have an actual photo of the baby, so that should count instead. The baby is about 5 inches long and weighs 6 oz. The skeleton is becoming bone, and fat is starting to form under the skin. Eyebrows are growing, and soon the baby will be able to hear us, and my heartbeat. So, I guess we should start talking to it!

First photo shoot!

Even in my poor medical condition, we went for our ultrasound. It was pretty cool...she said the baby moves a lot. Unfortunately, we needed it to turn around, and it didn't, so we have to go back. The baby is laying on it's chest, and she was unable to see the heart to look for any problems. It's ok, because we were also unable to get any good pictures this time because of the position.

Here is one of the better ones...the baby's head is on the left side and the spine along the top, and you can also see it's legs tucked up underneath.

I think I'm dying.

Remember that cold I said I was getting? It's here and it's BAD. And I might never get better because my body doesn't care one ounce about me, just the baby. It's all about the baby. Which I hear, doesn't suffer one bit from the cold I have. So, I think maybe my body could use a little energy on getting me better? Just a little? Hopefully the baby likes chicken soup, as it's about all I can eat when I'm this sick.

16 Weeks

16 weeks pregnant, and the baby is now the size of a...

large avocado. It's 4 1/2 inches long and weighs about 3 oz. His/her toenails are growing and the nose is completely formed. The baby also has taste buds, and the amniotic fluid can smell of garlic or other spices in my diet, so the baby could learn to like certain things I'm eating. I should probably eat more broccoli right now.

How am I feeling at 16 weeks? Sick. I'm getting a cold and it's awful. I can't take anything, and I'm miserable. And that makes me even more tired.

We have our ultrasound on Wednesday. That should be fun. We've also been looking at some baby furniture and bedding. It's all quite overwhelming. And maternity clothes are so dang expensive! On top of saving money for this baby, they make you get a whole new wardrobe. It just doesn't make sense.

I need to start exercising, so I need the weather to warm up! I want to swim, but I guess I'll have to start with just walking. When I feel better, that is.

15 weeks Pregnant and the weekend...

Ok, I know you have all been anxiously waiting the new size of the baby....

It is now the size of a....

Pear!

About 4 inches long and weighs about 1 3/4 oz. Legs are now longer than his/her arms and he/she can move all joints and limbs. Eyebrows are beginning to grow and hair may be sprouting on his/her head! Is that cute or what?

I am still tired. And I've gained 5 pounds. I think I need to slow that down. I know 5 pounds in 15 weeks doesn't sound too bad, but if the plan is only to gain 25 total, and you gain most of it at the end...seems like I should slow down. I think once it gets warmer outside and I start swimming, that will help.

I have an ultrasound scheduled for next Wednesday. They will probably be able to tell the sex at that point, but hopefully no one can see, because I don't want ANYONE to know, not even the ultrasound tech! You never know when it could slip out!

I had a little scare last week....I had to make an emergency dental appointment. I had a bad toothache, and we called our midwife and she said I need to get to the dentist ASAP in case I had an infection. That could be very dangerous to the baby. But, dental work is not always baby safe! And, of course, my dentist said he couldn't do what he wanted to do. I needed more anesthesia than he could give me, being pregnant. So, he did what he could, and put a temporary filling in, and I will have to go back after I have the baby. But, the good news is that he said there are no signs of infection. Just a bad cavity.

Friday we went to the Tiger/Yankee game. Prior to that game, John and I are 0-3 at games we've attended this year. But this time, Christine came with us! She must be a lucky charm because the Tigers won!

Apparently, this was my first Mother's Day! I was surprised to get several "Happy Mother's Day" wishes and even more surprised to get a gift! Ok, not so much, because it was from my mom. She got me maternity clothes! A cute shirt, and some jeans. I have to say, the maternity jeans are SO comfortable. I want to wear them all the time. And I'm not that big yet.

Ok, I know I look pretty big in the photo, but really, it's the shirt. I'm not really big enough to wear such a maternity shirt. I was kind of scared at how pregnant I look in that photo!

And, I missed my blog-iversary! I've been blogging for 2 years now! Since May 1, 2006.

What a disappointment!

I am 14 weeks pregnant, and there is no fruit this week!! A little bit longer than a lemon, is all I've got! The baby just has to grow faster, I guess!

The baby now has sweat glands (hopefully not John's), and he or she can squint, frown and grimace. Right, now, those are all reflexes though, and don't mean anything. He/she can also grasp with his/her hands!

Boring week, I know. Hopefully at least next week I can talk about how great I feel, and how much energy I have. (yeah, right.) Ok, I'm going to go take a nap now.
