Christmas...

Peppermintinis in our PJs...this was taken Christmas night, and yes, we had been in those PJs since Christmas Eve night. One of our traditions on Christmas Day, PJs all day! Of course, they are always NEW PJs....we open them Christmas Eve. John got me super cute pjs with stars all over them. (he says because I'm a superstar!) I love them!

We had a great Christmas, and the appliances are in the kitchen and the refrigerator fit! And it makes ice! Very exciting.

Some big news came on Christmas Eve...my nephew Marcel comes home January 12!

Next challenge...running a 5K after a New Year's Eve party. Well, the next morning.

Quick catch up

I should be wrapping gifts or grocery shopping, or something, but I figured I should catch up on my blog before all the Christmas craziness begins. So, here it is.

Thanksgiving: This was our menu. CRAZY!!! Yes, we need all that food.

We have been geocaching again. We started this about 4 years ago, did it for a summer and stopped. We bought a new GPS and did a little bit early December and we had fun! We will do more once the Christmas season is over. This one was in a park right by our house. This is the park we run around.

We also went geocaching at the Zoo, and while we were there, we saw the polar bears being fed. Going to the Zoo in the winter is cold, but it is the BEST time to see the animals. Remember my post last February about the Kangaroos?

Last weekend, Ed and Kathleen had a holiday party, with the main event being the counting of the corks! They have been collecting corks (they are avid wine drinkers) and every time you finish a bottle with them, you can put a guess in for a dollar. The object is to guess how many corks the container will hold.

Here's the container:

And here's the couting:

I think it ended up being 1,059 corks. Our closest guess was one of mine at 1,088. Not too bad.

The next day, we had a HUGE snow storm, and our neighbor and his kids invited us to go sledding. I hate sledding, but I went, and it was ok, the hill was pretty small.

Now, this is the exciting part:

We have decided what we are getting for Christmas. Oh, this is SOOOOO cool.

Yes, we are getting a new stove and refrigerator. Our current appliances are about 30 years old. The only concern is the size of the fridge. We just HOPE it fits into our house. It is truly beautiful. And, look at this:

That button on the far left? CRUSHED ICE!! But, really the best part is that it is a filtered dispensor, which means we can get rid of our Brita filtering systems!

I think when you buy appliances for Christmas and are truly exctied about them, means you are officially adults. So, at 29 and 34, it's about time, right?

And, in Marcel news...he is coming home FOR SURE! But, not before Christmas...we are now looking at early January. How exciting that it is so soon!!

Ok, now I really have to get moving, more shopping, gift wrapping, and baking is the plan for the rest of the day.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

If you know me well...

...you probably know that a HUGE passion of mine is the death penalty. I don't get into much controversy on my blog, but I am very passionate about this subject and I love to share my information if anyone is interested. I am pro-life. In EVERY way. Including and especially for prisoners on death row. I won't go into my reasons, and there are MANY to be opposed to this barbaric system; unless anyone wants me to. Shoot me an e-mail, I am happy to discuss the subject with anyone.

Why am I posting this? I just saw that New Jersey just outlawed the death penalty. I nearly cried tears of happiness and I thought I could post about it in case anyone wanted more information. I think that people get caught up in the fact that these are really bad people that deserve to be killed for whatever they have done, and they forget that one of the basic tenets of Christianity is forgiveness. And, my reasons are not all faith based.

I mean, if ONE innocent person is executed...is it worth it??

Who needs a farm system anyway??

Not the Tigers.

We just traded away several number one prospects, six total players for Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis.

I think we are going to win the World Series next year. The addition of these two players just gave us the best offensive lineup in baseball and one heck of a pitching staff.

We may never get tickets again!
