0-3

is our current record for the 2007 Tiger season. We have already been to 3 games this year and they have lost all 3. On top of the fact that every regular season game we went to last year was a loss. Saturday we had high hopes that our luck was going to change. It was our first game of our 6 game package. Yes, Aunt Karen, we toasted to you guys! We were hoping that in our seats that we were going to sit in for 6 games this year, we would start winning. No such luck. This was actually the worst game we have ever been to. They lost 11-3. To Minnesota! We really needed to win that game. And, I got mustard on the cutest capris I've ever owned! I had only worn them twice! Mustard is nearly impossible to get out I have found. I can still wear them, but I will forever see the faint yellow spot. Ugh.

At least it was a beautiful day. It would have really been awful if it was cold and rainy like the rest of the week was.

Here is a the view from our seats. They are pretty good. We are in left field, just on the fair side of the foul pole. It's a good place to catch home run balls!

It was another beautiful day today, but I had a few gifts to make, so I scrapped with my mom. I haven't posted pages here in a while, so here are a few of my recent pages...click on the image to see them larger.

This was a challenge from the Zone message boards to scrapbook photos of yourself. These are from our spring training trip.

This was just a silly page of us girls and how because of digital photography you have to take at least 5 shots of 5 girls because someone will not like how they look in the picture!

This was another challenge at the Zone to journal first, then scrap the page. I journaled about how I hate the question "so when you are having kids?"

This is one of my favorite pages. This was my challenge at the Zone to use 10 different manufacturer's products on one page. I love this photo of me and Jillian.

And this is the page I did today, yet another Zone challenge to use One product only, but a lot of it! I used Heidi Swapp decorative tape.

Busy Weekend!

We started the weekend out with a Tiger/White Sox game on Friday night. They lost. We are 0-2 so far this year. We haven't won any regular season games that John and I have attended in the whole 2006 season, and now so far in the 2007 season. We hope this trend does not continue! Our first game of our package given to us by my Aunt Karen and Uncle Doug is next Saturday, against the Twins. We need to win that one, they are 1 game up on us in our division.

John got a call from a contact at the Palace, offering us Pistons playoff tickets for Saturday night. Game 1 against the Magic. They wined and dined us to get some advertising out of John. We ate dinner and drank at the Palace Club before the game. We listened to a short pep talk from the President of the Pistons. We had great seats (even saw a few Tigers at the game!) and at half time, they came to get us. He took us to the sponsor lounge with more drinks and snacks and we watched the players go to and from their dressing room. Then, we got to go into the dressing room as they started the 3rd quarter. It was cool! Here are me and John in front of Flip Murray's locker. Notice the Tiger hat!

The Pistons won, which keeps our Playoff record intact. 2 Tiger playoff games, and 1 Pistons playoff game, all winners! We would like that record to continue!

In Memory

I heard about the shooting at Virginia Tech while I was at work, and while I felt disgusted and horrified, I was also rather disconnected from it. It was even an afterthought when I saw John...."Oh, you heard about that shooting at Virginia Tech, right?"

Until last night, I pulled up a message board that John and I both read. Motown Sports is a large Tigers message board with a huge community of Tigers fans from across the country. Like any message boards, lots of people read them, a few people post. Last night, I kept seeing posts about "Brian Bluhm." I had no idea who this was. Brian Bluhm, was a frequent poster on the board. He posted under the name estrepe1, which is how John and I knew him. He was killed in the classroom at Virgina Tech. He was a huge Tiger fan, and was an incredible contributor the the Motown Sports community. His posts were posts that always got read. He was 25 and a few weeks from graduating with his Master's degree as a civil engineer. All of the sudden, that shooting that I was so disconnected from became VERY real. I have been near tears many times last night and today about Brian and I never even knew his name. But I knew he was moving to Baltimore after graduation and just attended the Tiger game in Baltimore last week. I knew Curtis Granderson was his favorite Tiger. I knew that Hobbes was his avatar and he had a Sparky Anderson quote in his signature.

Rest in Peace, Brian. Our prayers are with you and your family.

What an experience!

Baseball season has begun!

We have been trying to get opening day tickets forever! They never went on sale, so we have just been trying to find someone willing to sell them for a reasonable price! We have been scouring craigslist.com but everyone wanted crazy amounts of money. So, we ended up just going down to the park (5 of us) and trying to buy tickets there. It started slow, no one really advertises they have a ticket to sell, or scalp, I should say. So, we find a guy celebrating that he got a ticket and he's holding a sign "Need One Ticket." He says he comes down every year on Opening Day with a sign and he always gets a ticket. Since he didn't need it anymore, he gave us his sign. I was the only girl in the group, and I thought I might get more offers so I held the sign. For a long time. I took some abuse holding that sign. Laughs, inappropriate offers, and other such things. But, we got 5 tickets this way. Some for face value, some for lots more. We split the cost and it ended up being about $70 per ticket. Not bad at all! Here's some photos of our adventure:

Me and the sign

Me and the sign, realizing that John is taking photos.

This is us with our tickets in the park!

We saw the guy that gave us the sign in the park, so we got a picture of him too. Without his sign, we would never have gotten 5 tickets!

Oh, you want to know if the Tigers won? Well, no. But, that's to be expected, they don't win any regular season games that John and I attend. But they played well. This is going to be a great season!

Go Tigers!
